Introduction

Welcome to Inkdrop editing! I'm Tammy, the editor. I specialise in academic editing.

Inkdrop editing offers a friendly, professional, and personalised copyediting and formatting service to valued existing and new clients.

My clients

Most of my clients are:

  • research higher degree candidates who are in the final stages of preparation for thesis submission for examination, or

  • academic authors who require their writing to be edited prior to submission (or re-submission) for publication in academic journals or texts (monographs or chapters in edited volumes), or presentation at conferences.

My services

Some typical examples of the services I provide to these clients are:

  • editing academic theses and journal articles,

  • formatting academic theses (by the application of Microsoft Word styles) to the required standards,

  • formatting academic journal articles to individual journal requirements,

  • checking and formatting reference lists (manually and via an EndNote database), and

  • building an EndNote library from supplied references.

I have also acted as liaison between book editors and chapter authors in the production of a number of academic texts, and I'm always keen to do that again. There's a great deal of pleasure to be gained from being involved in a project from its conception, through draft and feedback stages, to final publication.

Inkdrop editing offers a service that is boutique; individually tailored to meet your needs. I'm happy to discuss your current project and together we can decide on how best to proceed.

My business philosophy and ethics

I believe that all great working relationships are built on ethical behaviour, honesty, respect, and gratitude; values that underpin my business.

Your success is important to me, and I provide feedback that is intended to assist you in improving your writing and its presentation in your current project, but also in your future writing efforts.

As an associate member of the Institute of Professional Editors (IPEd), I work within IPEd's Code of Ethics and the IPEd Standards for Editing Practice (IPEd). When working with research higher degree candidates, I also follow the Guidelines for Editing Research Theses (IPEd). IPEd provides an indicative costs of academic editing (you will need to scroll down a bit), which prospective clients might find useful.

My love for this work

I love working with words and enjoy applying my experience and editing skills to academic texts. And when it comes to formatting and styling documents ... what can I say? It thrills me to be able to transform a thesis (or other document) so that its presentation appropriately reflects and conveys the significant effort expended in researching and writing its content.
